Postdoctoral positions in théorical ecology

  • Ecosystem stability across scales
  • Modelling human-nature interactions

Two postdoctoral positions are available at the Centre for Biodiversity Theory and Modelling (CBTM), based at the CNRS Theoretical and Experimental Ecology Station in Moulis, France. The mission of the CBTM is to foster and perform innovative theoretical research into the ecological and societal causes and consequences of biodiversity changes.

We seek two postdoctoral fellows to work in two projects led by Michel Loreau :

  • One postdoctoral fellow is expected to develop new theory on ecosystem stability across scales in metacommunities, as part of the project BIOSTASES (BIOdiversity, STAbility and sustainability in Spatial Ecological and social-ecological Systems) funded by a European Research Council Advanced Grant.
  • A second postdoctoral fellow is expected to develop novel models of the dynamics of human–nature interactions with the goal of understanding and predicting the sustainability of human societies, as part of a project funded by the TULIP Laboratory of Excellence.

Candidates for the two positions should meet the following requirements :

  • have a PhD in ecology, economics, mathematics or a related field ;
  • have skills in mathematical modelling ;
  • be creative and independent ;
  • have a good publication record.

Both positions are available for a period of two years starting preferably during the summer 2016. Salary will be in the range €30,000–42,000 per year depending on experience. Review of applications will begin on February 15th, 2016, and continue until the positions are filled.

To apply, e-mail a letter of application, a CV, a statement of research interests, and the names and email addresses of three references to Michel Loreau via Dalila Booth.
