The report of the workshop "Development of an Integrated Ocean Research Network - Future Earth’s Ocean KAN" highlighting takeaway messages from the event in December in Kiel, Germany is now available.

Future Earth and the International Council of Science (ICSU) together with the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) project Climate and Ocean - Variability, Predictability and Change (CLIVAR), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research of ICSU organised the first scoping workshop on the development of an integrative Ocean Knowledge-Action Network (KAN). The event was hosted by the Kiel Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean” on 4 to 5 December 2016 in the “Ostseekai Terminal” in Kiel, Germany. The workshop assembled nearly 100 representatives from 27 countries around the globe, connecting a large number of academic and practitioner communities dealing with ocean sustainability. The objective was to scope a new and engaging international transdisciplinary ocean research agenda that could be pursued within the framework of an Ocean Knowledge-Action Network over the coming years.
